INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
-- Xilinx, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX) today announced it's demonstrating the world's
first PCI Express product at the Fall 2002 Intel Developer Forum's Technology
Showcase being held at the San Jose Convention Center, Station #P29, from
September 9th - 12th. Developed in collaboration with Intel and Agilent, the
demonstration uses Xilinx's recently announced RealPCI Express intellectual

Agilent to accelerate the industry-wide transition from PCI to PCI Express,"
said Per Holmberg, director of marketing for Programmable Systems at Xilinx.
"By using the programmability and serial transceiver capability of the
Virtex-II Pro device, Xilinx was able to develop our core and this
demonstration in parallel with our participation in the definition of the
specification underscoring the capability and benefits of programmable
systems."
About the Demonstration
The demonstration shows the promise of PCI Express technology, which is
intended to maximize the performance and feature quality for high-performance
workstations and consumer gaming devices. The demonstration is protocol and
electrically compatible to the v1.0 base PCI Express specification as outlined
by the PCI-SIG and uses the proven Rocket I/O(TM) 3.125 Gbps serial
transceivers of Xilinx Virtex-II Pro FPGA -- the only device available on the
market capable of implementing the PCI Express specification. Conference
attendees can view the video on monitors attached to two PCs connected by
standard InfiniBand(TM) cables and connectors.
